We’re pleased to announce that NetElixir has been featured in eMarketer’s 2018 Holiday Shopping Report. The report compiles a wealth of industry data and insights to illustrate what should be a strong holiday shopping season for retailers. Our recent holiday ecommerce forecast was among the sources prominently referenced in the report.
Mobile shopping will serve as one of the primary drivers of holiday sales growth this year, as an increasing share of both site visits and transactions come from mobile devices. Encouraged by healthy signs from the first half of 2018, we’ve projected 15% year-over-year growth in ecommerce sales this holiday, with an estimated 42% of online purchases made via mobile phones.
eMarketer highlights our positive outlook on mobile commerce in the report:
“Udayan Bose, CEO and founder of retail search marketing company NetElixir, has witnessed mcommerce surge on his platform from 33% in H1 2017 to 42% in H1 2018. He attributes the gains to an overall increase in mobile shopping and improving sell-through.
“Both frequency of mobile transactions and conversions have gone up,” he said, while noting that average order value has remained consistent. (Source: eMarketer)
Cyber Week Continues to Evolve
The eMarketer report also cites our findings from last year regarding the “Cyber Week” period spanning Thanksgiving through Cyber Monday. In 2017, we saw 15% of online orders during Cyber Week occur on Thanksgiving (see below).
While Black Friday and Cyber Monday will still dominate this five-day stretch, we expect Thanksgiving to continue to make gains as more consumers make time for online shopping on the traditional food-and-family holiday.
