NETELIXIR SPONSORS HOPE

The NetElixir Flight program is our way of caring enough to bring a chance of an education, alife, and a dream to under privileged woman in poor areas that really need it.We sponsor hope and we bring opportunity.

CARING IS INGRAINED IN OUR DNA

That NetElixir Cares is ingrained in the inception of its thus named philanthropic program. In its history—and through the actions it has carried out and the ripple effects of its core principles—lives have been improved drastically, people have been inspired to do better and to take steps outside of what life expected of them. These changes came about from a simple question that motivated many young women to enable themselves to seek what so many in their shared circumstances lacked—an education and future.

On December 28th of 2015, our Founders, Udayan Bose and Tulika Bose, appeared before a 10th grade class at a small all-girl’s school in a rural India. Most of the girls in this class had a minimal chance for further education or a future job. For most of them, they would likely have to marry and forgo any further education.

THE QUESTION THAT INSPIRED OPPORTUNITY

Udayan asked the class a simple question: “How many of you think you can score 80% on your 10th grade exam?” (The 10th grade exam is a pivotal indicator of likelihood for getting into a college.) Three classmates raised their hands. He then asked a follow up question: “How about if we sponsor your high school (11th and 12th grades) and college tuition and offer you a job?” 14 students raised their hands. When the results were declared in May 2016, 21 students from the class had scored over 80% and nine had scored over 90%!

Vision

From that pivotal inception moment in December of 2015, the chance for three girls per year to be sponsored for college and a future beyond what they would have thought possible emerged. The three girls receive a sponsorship after an interview with them and their families to help learn more about them and their goals as well as whether their family is willing to support their pursuit of their dreams.

Beyond the program’s sponsorship, the benefits to young women in this school have been immense. The 10th grade exam scores in the school went up across the board the next year simply due to the motivation of new-found possibility. Young women gained the confidence to work past what they expected they could do.

To give an example of the possibilities that emerged, of those nine directly sponsored and impacted by the program to date, two are now second-year college students in leading engineering colleges in India. One is pursuing a degree in commerce. The remaining six recently completed their 11th and 12th grade education.

HOPE BEYOND SCHOOL

The assistance to these young women extends beyond just college sponsorship. In addition to the offer of a job should they choose to take it, those enrolled in this program receive language lessons, programming lessons, and counseling to help build confidence and self-esteem.

The nine already greatly impacted (and the multiple more motivated) are just the small starting number to the legacy of this program. We hope to continue onward offering chances for a better education, career, and life for many years to come.
